C’est Magnifique Gala of the Social Season, 

“April in Paris”
Presented by the
Symphony of the Americas Society

Fort Lauderdale April 18, 2009

Ooh La La! C’est Magnifique Gala of the Social Season, “April in Paris” Gala was presented by the Symphony of the Americas Society onApril 4, 2009 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort.   The evening began with a cocktail reception that included a mime, French maids, and a Jon Don who delighted and entertained the audience.

Chairman of the “April in Paris” Gala, Carole Nugent   transformed the reception area and ballroom into a romantic Parisian atmosphere filled with intrigue, romance, and beautiful Symphonic music. Patricia La Vallee, of Eco Crafts showgirl centerpieces and Eiffel Tower were ingenious and environmentally friendly.
Highlight of the Gala was the appearance of the Symphony of the Americas, under the direction of Maestro James Brooks Bruzzese, who performed selections from the Musical,” Can Can” with a guest appearance by singer, Beth Holland, President of the SOAS.  The Can Can Dancers of Christine Lopez and Troupe then treated guests to a rousing performance.  The evening continued with music by the Dee Dee Wilde Band that had everyone dancing in the streets of Paris.

Beth Holland introduced Dr. Peter Babinski who thanked major sponsors that include Mary Porter, Madelyn Savarick, Florence Hutton, Stephen Keller, Rose Miniaci, Rosemary Larson, Dennis and Florence Hutton, Thelma Archer- Jotcham and Holland America Line.
